BBC Radio 2 celebrates the 25th Cheltenham Jazz Festival with a special concert presented by YolanDa Brown which will be broadcast on Sunday 1st May at 7pm as part of Sunday Night Is Music Night.
Seventy musicians including the Guy Barker Big Band and BBC Concert Orchestra welcome a host of special guests including Gregory Porter, Paloma Faith, Joe Stilgoe, Vanessa Haynes, Tommy Blaize, Adi Oasis and Georgia Cécile. This celebratory concert features music from over a hundred years of jazz. Among the music of Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Duke Ellington and John Coltrane; classics from Festival greats Georgie Fame, Roberta Flack, and Hugh Masekela and symphonic arrangements of jazz standards including On Revival Day, High Society, Ain’t No Way and What’d I Say.
