Channel 4 News anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy was in Brazil to commentate on the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Paralympics in Rio. The ceremony was broadcast live on Channel 4.

Following on from the BAFTA award-winning efforts of London 2012, Channel 4 was back with the UK exclusive broadcasting of up to 165 hours of sport, over the course of 11 days hosted by the largest number of disabled presenters ever seen on UK television. The presenting team was joined by some new faces as well as established Channel 4 names including Krishnan, who helped guide viewers through the Opening Ceremony.

Coverage continued for the duration downloadof the Games, culminating in the Closing Ceremony on September 18th.

 

The Opening Ceremony was broadcast live on Wednesday September 7th on Channel 4. It is now available to watch on 4od.
