Women in Westminster: The 100, an annual celebration of the most inspirational and influential women in Westminster, is back for it’s second year and we are delighted that the contributions of Ayesha Hazarika and Emily Maitlis are recognised.

Ayesha Hazarika MBE is a columnist and broadcaster who is known for her insightful and witty opinions and observations on current affairs and politics. Having started her career as a stand-up comedian , she then took what she thought was a natural diversion into politics as a Special Adviser for the Labour Party, working with them for eight years both in Government and Opposition. During her time in Westminster she worked for Gordon Brown, Harriet Harman and Ed Miliband, advising them on Prime Minister’s Questions, speeches, media and policy as well as heading up initiatives on topics such as Women and Equality.

Emily Maitlis is one of the top 50 most influential people in Britain (GQ Magazine) and the lead presenter on Newsnight – the BBC’s flagship current affairs programme – and part of the core BBC presenting team for elections both here and in the United States. She co-hosts  the hugely respected podcast Americast, and was named the Network Presenter of the Year at the RTS Television Journalism Awards in 2019 and 2020.

There are now more incredibly talented women from across politics and public service than ever before; from parliamentarians, to journalists, civil servants, and activists. To celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, the Women In Westmister Patrons have identified 100 of the most inspiring women in public life. Check out the full list here.
