Steve is a successful writer, comedian, actor and presenter who first came to prominence on the legendary cult sketch show BBC Radio 2’s The Mary Whitehouse Experience with long time performing and writing partner, Hugh Dennis. Punt and Dennis went on to perform in their own TV sketch show, The Imaginatively Titled Punt & Dennis Show, and co-wrote and starred in the sitcom Me, You & Him.

Steve currently writes and presents BBC Radio 4’s award winning comedy The Now Show (just finished its 46th series) and also hosts The 3rd Degree, the quiz show recorded on location at a different university each week, pitting undergraduates against three of their professors. Steve’s sharp satirical comedy can also be enjoyed on the BBC Two panel show Mock the Week, where he is a principal writer.

Steve has recently written and presented a radio documentary telling the story of one of his icons, the sitcom legend Tony Hancock. The programme was featured in Radio 4’s Pick of the Week, where it was called “a little gem”.
