Broadcaster and Journalist Anita Anand returns to BBC Radio 4 to host The Reith Lectures.
Anita will be going on tour with historian Professor Margaret MacMillan to record her Reith Lectures – entitled The Mark of Cain – this June, beginning in London and concluding in Canada. The five lectures will explore the tangled history of war and society and our complicated feelings towards it and towards those who fight.
Inaugurated 70 years ago in 1948 by the BBC to mark the historic contribution made to public service broadcasting by Sir John (later Lord) Reith, The Reith Lectures’ aim is to advance public understanding and debate about significant issues of contemporary interest. Previous Lecturers include Bertrand Russell, Aung San Suu Kyi, Stephen Hawking and Hilary Mantel.
The Reith Lectures will be broadcast on Radio 4 and the World Service weekly from Tuesday 26 June at 9am
