Amer Chadha-Patel can currently be seen in Disney’s Aladdin, and is soon to be seen in Year of the Rabbit on Channel 4 and Gurinder Chadha’s Beecham House on ITV.
Set in the dark heart of Victorian London, Year of the Rabbit (C4/Objective) follows Detective Inspector Rabbit (Matt Berry), a hardened booze-hound who’s seen it all, and his hapless new partner Strauss (Freddie Fox). While investigating a murder, the ambitious daughter (Susan Wokoma) of the chief of police joins them, becoming London’s first female officer. Together, the trio must fight crime while rubbing shoulders with street gangs, crooked politicians and Bulgarian princes. The first episode airs on Monday 10th June and you can see the trailer here.
Beecham House (ITV UK/Fremantle) tells the story of John Beecham, a former soldier turned trader, and his young family at the turn of the 19th century in Delhi. It has just premiered at Cannes Film Festival, which you can read about here.
Aladdin is a live action remake of the classic 90s Disney cartoon. Directed by Guy Ritchie and featuring Will Smith as the Genie, Disney’s Aladdin is in cinemas in May 2019.
